Weekly Activity Programme
Each week on the Student Notice Board their will be a list of activities and costs. We provide a free leader to accompany students and students will pay for their own transport and entrance fees where applicable.
There is a sign in sheet and students can register their interest in attending an activity.
Intercultural and Cultural Awareness at ICE
At The Irish College of English, we believe that learning English goes beyond the classroom. It’s also about understanding different cultures, connecting with others, and sharing experiences. Our Irish Culture Modules are designed to introduce you to the rich history, traditions, and way of life in Ireland—from Irish folklore and music to the celebration of holidays like St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween, both of which have strong roots in Irish culture.
To encourage social interaction and help students get to know one another, we offer free coffee, tea, and biscuits during breaks. This creates a welcoming space where you can relax, chat with classmates, and share cultures.
We also host a variety of intercultural events throughout the year, such as World Food Day, where students are invited to bring a dish from their home country, and International Women’s Day, celebrating the contributions of women from all cultures. We celebrate global holidays alongside Irish ones, like Christmas, Easter and World Environment Day, fostering a community that values diversity and mutual respect.
At ICE, learning English is a journey enriched by the cultures and friendships that you will encounter along the way.
Full Cultural Immersion with Irish Hosts
Some students also have the unique opportunity to stay with carefully selected Irish host families, offering full immersion in the local culture. Living with Irish hosts allows students to experience everyday Irish life firsthand, practice their language skills in real-world settings, and gain a deeper understanding of local customs and traditions.
Cultural Awareness Through Work and Social Integration in Ireland
For adults studying in Ireland, the opportunity to work and engage in local social groups plays a vital role in fostering cultural awareness. These experiences provide students with practical, real-life exposure to Irish society, allowing them to build deeper connections and develop a more nuanced understanding of local culture.
